Three years after the silver jubilee celebrations of the Mother STAMS, as the beloved alma mater- St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary is often referred to, the hunger and thirst for the formalization of a lay Alumni body translated into reality. The brainchild of Lambert Mbom who left the seminary in July 1999, and began stoking the embers of such an organization. Informal gatherings in Bambui at the home of Aidan Berinyuy and Nkwen of Stephen Angafor- de facto hangout spots for former seminarians provided steam for the eventual concretization of this move.

Stephen Angafor Stephen is currently based in UK. He is a Pedagogue by profession, a passionate advocate for the welfare of underprivileged children. Born and raised in Cameroon, Stephen has dedicated his life to making a difference in the lives of young people in his community. As the founder and director of “Hope for All”, a non-governmental organization, he has spent years reaching out to children in remote areas of Cameroon who lack access to basic necessities like education, healthcare, and nutrition.

Deodatus Biche Bijengsi is a skilled professional web developer with expertise in crafting dynamic websites and web applications. Prior to his transition into tech, he dedicated six years to education, serving as a classroom teacher for three years before stepping into school administration, where he held roles including Discipline Master, Vice Principal, and Principal. He was admitted into STAMS in 2005, under the Archdiocese of Bamenda, and his formation was discontinued in 2008 immediately after his philosophical studies. Checkout his Website.

James Nkuo is a bright and charismatic young professional. With a radiant smile and an air of approachability, he has a gift for connecting with others and making a lasting impression. His sharp intellect and quick thinking have served him well in his endeavors, and his dedication to his passions is evident in everything he does. Whether dressed in a suit or in casual attire, Berinyuy exudes a confident and put-together demeanor that commands respect. As a natural leader and problem-solver, he is a valuable asset to his community and a source of inspiration to those around him.

Bob Anastasius Bobonggha Anastasius Ndze is an Ex Seminarian of the Diocese of Kumbo, North West Region of Cameroon. He hails from Mbiame – Mbven Sub Division. He did his primary education in is village & in 1986, he started Form One in Bishop Rogan Minor Seminary in Small Soppo – Buea. He completed in 1994 acquiring both the O/L & A/L GCE certificates.

He then proceeded to the St. John Mary Vianney Spiritual center at Njinikom and in September 1995, he started Philosophical studies at the St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Bambui. See More

Samson Mbilam is a dynamic and results-driven individual with a passion for excellence. John Paul Nkwain. This guy is a vibrant Music professional and Business Savvy. He gained admission into STAMS in the Year 2005, under the Archdiocese of Bamenda. He was advised to withdraw 3 years later. He obtained in BA in Philosophy in 2008. The following year, he moved to UAE, where he worked in several business organizations. He also got an MBA (Management, 2013). Thereafter, he returned to Cameroon and ran his private Business till 2008, when he relocated to the Philippines. In the Philippines, he worked with Tech Companies like Google, Concentrix and Aptos. He currently runs his own Business and remains open to prospects.

Franka Christopher Mbiydzenyuy enrolled in STAMS in 1987 and left in 1996 as a Deacon. He is a teacher of Philosophy, Logic and Religious studies. He loves country music, sports and humour. One of his gift which he cherish so much is that he rarely gets angry.

Dr Nelson Shang holds a PhD in Philosophy – specialty Metaphysics and Epistemology – from the University of Dschang (2019), a Masters Degree in Philosophy from the Université Catholique d’Afrique Centrale (2012) and a Bachelor’s Degree from the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (STAMS) – Bambui, affiliate of the Pontificia Universitas Urbaniana – Romae (2008). Tarcisus Nsaibinla KinyuyA Masters Degree Holder in Philosophy, Thesis: The Rice of Social Media And The Problem of Fake News: A reading of Lee McIntyre. And License Degree in Theology. I went to Saint Aloysius Minor Seminary Kitiwum for secondary school: 2007-2014. Under the Diocese of Kumbo, Bishop George Nkuo, sent me for 1 year, to Saint John Mary Vianney Spiritual Centre- Bafut. Later, philosophicum at Saint John Paul II Major Seminary. Under the Diocese of Buea 2019, under Bishop Emmanuel Bushu, I did my pastoral year at the Divine Mercy Co- Cathedral Buea, and was Admitted in Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary Bambui from 2019 to 2020, when I left the Major Seminary after Theology, under Bishop Bibi. From 2020 to 2023 I had my Theology at the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC). And Masters in Philosophy at University of Yaoundé 1, Ngoa Ekele.

Alah francis Azanui is an educational psychology scholar and teacher residing in Douala. He was admitted to St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (STAMS) Bambui by the late Archbishop Paul Mbiybe Verdzekov in 2005 and left in 2008 on completion of his Bachelors in Philosophy. Francis has dedicated his career to teaching philosophy, drawing upon his educational psychology background to support student learning and development.

Michel Dinyuy was admitted into STAMS Bambui in 2007 under the diocese of Kumbo by Bishop George Nkuo. He discontinued formation in 2010 after a pastoral year as a formator in St Aloysius Minor Seminary. For the next six years he dedicated himself to teaching Religious Studies and Philosophy under the Catholic Education Secretariat of the Diocese of Buea. Dr Valentine Ngalim admitted into Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (STAMS), Bambui in 1999/2000 academic year, as seminarian for Kumbo Diocese. My motivation to become a priest grew from my childhood experiences of Church activities around Kumbo Cathedral where my Family was resident and where I attended primary school in STS Kumbo. Even though a greater part of our formation was for single life, we are mature enough to chose any other path which includes a life of marriage.

This sentiment bridges traditional views of vocation with a modern understanding of choice and calling. It affirms that life’s ultimate purpose lies in authenticity, whether through single life, marriage, or other commitments.
